Changing Citizenship Laws in Italy. A Victory for All of Us!!!

If we are successful with this endeavor it will be a victory for all of us!!! An initiative of Fucsia Fitzgerald Nissoli, Chamber Deputy elected by the constituency of North and Central America.

As many of you know the Italian Parliament will be discussing soon the possibility of modifying the country's citizenship laws.

I have proposed an outstanding and necessary change in that law and my proposal can be found here >>>

I'm seeking to allow Italians who lost their italian citizenship to reacquire it by a declaration to the Consulate without having to reside for any period of time back in Italy. There are people in our community who were born in Italy, but have lost their italian citizenship when they naturalized and who would like to reclaim it by just filling out an application like we do for JS cases. Are you willing to help them?

There is a petition online asking the Chamber of Deputies to place on its calendar a time to discuss a proposed law regarding how one reacquire's Italian citizenship.

My proposal reads in English:

"People born in Italy, the children of at least one Italian parent, who upon moving abroad lost their Italian citizenship for reasons not directly attributed to themselves or for reasons of work can reacquire their Italian citizenship by making a specific request directly to the Italian Consulate that has jurisdiction over their home address provided that said request is not in conflict with any established international bilateral agreements presently in force."

The petition addressed to the president of the Chamber of Deputies Laura Boldrini can be signed by following the link >>>
