  • On March 18, 2016, La Scuola d’Italia Guglielmo Marconi, the only school in North America that offers its entire academic curriculum in both English and Italian, hosted its annual gala. This year the highlight of the evening was the announcement of a new La Scuola that will be housed at 432 West 58th St., near Columbus Circle
  • The 2016 annual gala of this renown U.S. university in Rome will be held on April 5 at New York's historic Union League Club. Among the honorees this year are H E Ambassador Sebastiano Cardi, Italy's Permanent Representative at the United Nations, who will receive the inaugural Judge Marie Garibaldi Award for Public Service; Paula Frohring, Chairman of the Frohring Foundation and university trustee, who will receive the John Cabot University Medal for service to the institution; Dr. Domenic Grasso, Provost, University of Delaware, who will receive the John Cabot University Award for Excellence in Education.

    Family-owned Italian coffee company Lavazza just turned 120. The event was celebrated with a gala held on May 14th in Manhattan’s hip Meatpacking district. Present were members of the Lavazza family including Giuseppe and Francesca Lavazza, great-grandchildren of company founder Luigi. We spoke with them as well as with Chief Executive Officer of Lavazza USA, Ennio Ranaboldo, as they told us about the great pride they all feel in the progress and the results that Lavazza has obtained and continues to strive for, maintaining the spirit of creativity that it was initially conceived in.
  • The Kickoff celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) took place at Cipriani’s in New York. This year a new award was given out: the Mario Cuomo Award in community leadership and public service, received by Attorney General Janet Di Fiore. Present at the Gala were also various prominent Italian American figures, such as the current Governor Andrew Cuomo, NIAF president John Viola, actors Chazz Palminteri and Ralph Macchio, news anchor Ken Rosato, chairman of NIAF Joseph Raso, and many others. All had great input on many topics regarding Italian American culture, integration, discourse, as well as the connection with Italy, especially in view of Expo Milano.

Cuomo Award in Public Service will be presented for the first time by the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) at the legendary Cipriani 42nd Street during the Foundation’s New York Spring Gala on April 8, 2015.New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo is planning to attend the ceremony to honor his late father.
  • NOIAW is the premier organization for women of Italian heritage that is committed to preserving Italian heritage, language and culture by promoting and supporting the advancement of women of Italian ancestry through education programs. At their annual gala they honored Lisa Lemole Oz, welcomed new chair Patricia Martone and raised funds for more cultural exchanges.
  • New York Spring Extravaganza - NIAF GALA 2013
    Held at the legendary Italian Renaissance-inspired Cipriani 42nd Street, the evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. The gala also includes musical performance by Louis Prima Jr. and The Witnesses, an eight-piece brass-infused swing band.
