  • Despite the elimination from the Foreign Film Category, Italy is represented at the Academy Awards in two important categories: Art Direction for Martin Scorsese's Hugo and Short Film Animation for Enrico Casarosa's La Luna. The former welcomes long-time favorites Dante Ferretti and Francesca Lo Schiavo while the latter introduces Pixar's story artist Enrico Casarosa.
  • Along with the various observations that have been made by three of our esteemed colleagues (De Stefano, Gardaphé, Krase), and I must emphasize that I am in agreement as well with other sentiments that they raise, one must indeed recognize the merits of Roberto Saviano’s work these past four-plus years. He has put himself, literally, on the line, and we might readily agree that no “fame” or “wealth,” however significant or insignificant it may be, is worth the risk.

    The talented and beloved screenwriter Suso Cecchi D'Amico remembered at the Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò. A documentary, a round table and a screening of Big Deal On Madonna Street, one of Mario Monicelli's masterpieces. Also announced - by Antonio Monda and Davide Azzolini - an event in January during the visit of the Cardinal of Naples Crescenzio Sepe in New York: Casa Italiana will host a conversation between the Cardinal and John Turturro about the representation of Naples in films.
