United States

The U.S. Premiere of
Le Passioni dell'Anima

A musical story for children’s choir, solo voice and piano inspired by the human emotions and sung in Italian

Performed by the New York City Children's Chorus directed by Mary Wannamaker Huff
Andrew Elliot Henderson, piano

Music by Roberto Scarcella Perino and lyrics by Federica Anichini

A series of guests (Sadness, Joy, Fear, Courage, Rage and Kindness) visit the anima, a patient host who graciously welcomes anyone who visits her. The single passions are expressed through the conversation between soul and guest: Kindness showers the soul with flatteries; Courage invites the soul to follow him while he accomplishes a whole series of terrifyingly heroic tasks, etc.

Le Passioni dell’Anima is a coproduction between NYU Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò and the Filarmonica Laudamo(Messina).

The world premiere took place on April 2nd at the Filarmonica Laudamo.

On June 7, Le Passioni dell’Anima will be performed at the beautiful Villa La Pietra in Florence by SolEnsemble, a prestigious Italian women’s chorus.
