The National Organization of Italian American Women (NOIAW), [2] the only national organization for women of Italian ancestry, holds its Annual Luncheon and Silent Auction at the St. Regis New York on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11:30 AM and honors two accomplished Italian American women:
Dr. Vita Carulli Rabinowitz was appointed Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost at The City University of New York in July 2015. For nearly a decade prior to her current position, Dr. Rabinowitz served as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Hunter College, where she has been a dedicated faculty member for her entire academic career. She has previously held a variety of administrative positions including chairperson of the Department of Psychology, acting associate provost, and acting provost.
Dr. Lori Ann Attivissimo, has devoted her career to improving hospice and palliative care. She’s a proven leader who has rapidly advanced Northwell Health Hospice Care Network (HCN) into a premier hospice provider. Dr. Attivissimo serves as HCN’s senior medical director, overseeing the medical services for patients across Queens, Nassau and Suffolk Counties. HCN serves an average of 520 end-of-life patients daily. Dr. Attivissimo also helped create the Miracle Foundation Home-Based Palliative Care Center, serving as senior medical director.
Also receiving a Friend of NOIAW Award is Mr. Joseph R. Ficalora, President and CEO of New York Community Bancorp, Inc. (NYCB) the 22nd largest bank holding company in the nation. Under Ficalora’s leadership, the company has evolved from a mutual savings bank with seven branches to a publicly traded multi-bank holding company with 255 branches.
Tickets for the event start at $300 and are available at NOIAW.org. More than 200 guests are expected at the event, including the Consul General in Italy to New York, Hon. Francesco Genuardi. The celebration begins with a silent auction and reception featuring gift certificates to some of New York City’s best restaurants, travel packages to Italy, designer handbags and accessories, and museums memberships.
