John Cabot University of Rome, the foremost fully accredited U. S. institution of higher learning in the EU, will honor three distinguished Americans during its annual gala on April 5, 2016, at New York's historic Union League Club.
Drawing more than 300 friends, supporters, and alumni of the 44-year-old university, the annualfundraising event provides the university with a platform to recognize outstanding leaders in public affairs, philanthropy, law, diplomacy, business, education, and other fields. President of JCU Dr. Franco Pavoncello will also showcase recent developments at JCU, including the expansion of the campus, new programming, and the dramatic growth of the student body.
Among the honorees this year are H E Ambassador Sebastiano Cardi, Italy's Permanent Representative at the United Nations, who will receive the inaugural Judge Marie Garibaldi Award for Public Service; Paula Frohring, Chairman of the Frohring Foundation and university trustee, who will receive the John Cabot University Medal for service to the institution; Dr. Domenic Grasso, Provost, University of Delaware, who will receive the John Cabot University Award for Excellence in Education.
Former U.S. Congressman and Chairman of the Board of JCU Hon. Frank Guarini said this year's honorees are emblematic of JCU’s values and its status in the world of education: "We are proud as an institution to be honoring these exemplary individuals for their achievements in public policy, philanthropy, public service, and education. JCU stands for excellence in education and in service in all that we do, from our college majors, our faculty, our teams and societies to the Trustees and Administration that guide the progress of our bright, passionate student body. The organizing Committee for the Gala includes Hon. Frank Guarini, Chairman of the Board; Hon. US Judge William Martini, Vice Chairman of the Board; Trustees Cav. Vivian Cardia, Comm. Stefano Acunto, and Cav. Frank Desiderio.
John Cabot University, founded in 1972, is an independent, four-year liberal arts university offering undergraduate and graduate degrees and study abroad programs to English-speaking students from all over the world.
